Boise, the capital and largest city in the State of Idaho, is the hub of commerce, banking and government for the state. Located along the Boise River and nestled against foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the area offers many outdoor activities including white-water rafting, Nordic and Alpine skiing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, backpacking and camping. Boise has thousands of acres of open space around the city. The foothills of the Rockies provide trails for hikers and bikers of all abilities. The Boise River Greenbelt is a great place for biking, roller-blading or a casual stroll.
Many large companies are headquartered here, including Simplot Corporation, Boise Cascade, Albertsons, Micron Technology and Hewlett-Packard.
Boise is rich in history, cultural events, public art and galleries, sporting events and fine dining. Annual events include the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Art in the Park, The Gene Harris Jazz Festival, and the St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration.
